CMC Electronics Wins Contract To Supply Intermediate Gain Satcom Antennas To Honeywell

(MONTREAL and OTTAWA, Canada and Farnborough International Air Show - July 19, 2004) CMC Electronics Inc. has received orders to supply its intermediate gain Satellite Communications (Satcom) antenna system known as the CMA-2200 to Honeywell for its Aero-I system. The order covers a quantity of one hundred antenna systems. Deliveries will be completed by June 2006. Honeywell has been offering the CMA-2200 to its customers since 1997.

The CMA-2200 is an intermediate gain, electronically steerable, phased array antenna that fully supports Inmarsat Aero-I satellite communications services. It provides hemispherical coverage in a small, low-weight package that provides excellent coverage performance. The antenna's top-mount design virtually eliminates multipath interference. Many STCs for the CMA-2200 system are in existence for a variety of aircraft types.

The design of the CMA-2200 is based on the same proprietary top-mounted technology and architecture used in the company's industry leading CMA-2102 high gain Satcom antenna system. CMC has captured more than 75% of all Aero-H/H+ airline installations with its Satcom antennas. CMC's Satcom antenna customer list now includes over 70 airlines and a number of corporate/VIP and military operators.

CMC's high gain Satcom antenna's top-mounted technology and architecture virtually eliminate multi-path interference and allow simplified installation. The CMA-2102 fully supports Swift64 high-speed data service without modification. It enables applications ranging from intranet Virtual Private Network (VPN) access for crews to multi-channel voice services and fast e-mail for passengers. This new Inmarsat service has been designed to meet the needs of aircraft passengers, corporate users and the flight deck, while making use of existing Aero H/H+ Satcom components already found on a large number of airline and corporate jet aircraft.

CMC Electronics designs and produces leading technology electronics products for the aviation and global positioning markets. Its principal locations are in Montreal, Quebec; Ottawa, Ontario; and Sugar Grove, Illinois. The company's capabilities are broadened by NovAtel Inc., its subsidiary in Calgary, Alberta. CMC Electronics is a private company controlled by an investor group led by ONCAP L.P. ONCAP is a CDN $400 million investment fund established by Onex Corporation and a number of leading Canadian financial institutions. Onex Corporation is a diversified company with annual consolidated revenues of approximately CDN $16 billion and consolidated assets of approximately CDN $14 billion. Onex is one of Canada's largest companies with global operations in the service, manufacturing and technology industries.
