CMC Electronics SureSight® Enhanced Vision System Sensor On Track For Transport Canada Appliance Type Approval
(National Business Aviation Association - October 11, 2004) CMC Electronics Inc. began final qualification testing of its SureSight I-series™ infrared Enhanced Vision System (EVS) sensor as a stand-alone system, in September 2004. The results of the tests will be sent to Transport Canada, and Appliance Type Approval is anticipated in November of this year.
According to CMC's Bruce Bailey, Vice President, Commercial Aviation, "This extensive qualification program will prove the ruggedness of the SureSight l-series EVS sensor's hardware as well as the robustness of the embedded software."
CMC's SureSight I-series sensor is aimed at the high-end corporate/business jet, air transport and military markets for use with a Head Up Display (HUD), a Head Down Display (HDD) or both. The SureSight I-series sensor provides outstanding image quality and weather penetration, and will allow operators to take advantage of the new FAA regulations provided for enhanced landing capabilities as well as enhanced safety.
CMC Electronics has developed the SureSight I-series sensor for a wide variety of aircraft to increase flight crew situational awareness by heightening their ability to see through fog, haze, precipitation, day and night, to increase the probability of landing in foul weather and to improve overall safety. EVS significantly improves situational awareness, not only during take-off, approach and landing, but also during ground manoeuvring.
CMC Electronics designs and produces leading technology electronics products for the aviation and global positioning markets. Its principal locations are in Montreal, Quebec; Ottawa, Ontario; and Chicago, Illinois. CMC's capabilities are broadened by NovAtel Inc., its subsidiary in Calgary, Alberta.
