CMC Electronics SureSight® Enhanced Vision System Sensor Selected by Universal Avionics

(European Business Aviation Conference and Exhibition - May 2, 2006) CMC Electronics Inc. has signed a multi-year agreement with Universal Avionics Systems Corporation for the supply of the CMC Electronics' SureSight® M-Series™ Enhanced Vision System (EVS) sensor. Universal will offer the ultra compact M-Series EVS sensor on an exclusive basis to its broad customer base.

Ted Naimer, president, Universal Avionics, said: "We are very impressed with CMC Electronics' M-Series EVS sensor. Our customers should find the M-Series to be a very effective aid in improving situational awareness."

Jean-Pierre Mortreux, president and CEO, CMC Electronics, stated: "It is a great pleasure to establish this important partnership with Universal. We look forward to moving ahead together with this innovative new Enhanced Vision System product."

CMC's ultra compact, low-cost M-Series EVS sensor improves situational awareness by allowing pilots to see better at night and in low-visibility situations for commercial and business/corporate operations. The M-Series sensor weighs 2.2 lb and measures 2.4 inches by 2.5 inches by 6 inches in length. A notable feature is the M-Series' single Line Replacable Unit that can be easily installed in the tail fin or nose of an aircraft.

CMC Electronics' SureSight family of EVS products includes both cooled (the I-Series™) and uncooled (the M-Series) sensors. While both sensors can create an image of the airport environment (including terrain and obstacles), cooled sensors can also "see" the airport lights without the need for a second sensor and image fusion hardware and software. Single sensor uncooled systems are generally smaller, lighter and better suited for aircraft that are not equipped with a head-up display.
