Airbus Selects CMC Electronics' Compact High Gain SatLite® Antenna System For A320 Single Aisle Aircraft Family

(Farnborough International Airshow - July 17, 2006) CMC Electronics Inc. has been selected to supply its compact Satellite Communications (Satcom) high gain antenna system known as SatLite® in support of the Airbus Single Aisle A320 Family production aircraft. The new-generation SatLite antenna supports Inmarsat Aero-H, H+, Swift64 and SwiftBroadband satellite communications services. The compact design of this top-mounted, low-profile antenna with integrated Beam Steering Unit is based on CMC's field proven, proprietary technology and architecture used in its industry leading CMA-2102 high gain antenna system.

Cathy Bain, CMC Electronics' Vice President, Marketing and Sales, noted: "We are very pleased that our compact SatLite antenna has been launched on the A320 family of single aisle aircraft. This selection, coupled with Airbus's decision to equip its long-haul aircraft with our lightweight CMA-2102LW Satcom antenna, confirm our systems' outstanding pedigree. We value our continuing association with Airbus and look forward to working closely with them well into the future."

An important benefit for customers is the SatLite antenna's compatibility with both new generation (ARINC 781) and legacy (ARINC 741) terminal equipment. The SatLite antenna measures 6.7 cm high by 99.3 cm long by 36.2 cm wide, and weighs only 7.6 kg. The antenna's unique design enables coverage beyond Inmarsat's specified hemispherical zone and provides robust performance at low elevation angles for aircraft flying at high latitudes.

CMC Electronics is the number one supplier of Satcom antennas to the air transport and VIP business liner markets. The company has captured more than 75% of all Aero-H/H+ airline installations with its Satcom antennas. To date, CMC has delivered over 2,000 Inmarsat Satcom antenna systems to approximately 100 airline, OEM, military, corporate and VIP customers.

CMC's high gain Satcom antennas' top-mounted technology and architecture virtually eliminate multi-path interference and allow simplified installation. Its high gain antennas fully support Swift64 high speed and SwiftBroadband data services without modification. They enable applications ranging from intranet Virtual Private Network (VPN) access for crews to multi-channel voice services and fast e-mail for passengers. This Inmarsat service has been designed to meet the needs of the flight deck, aircraft passengers and corporate users, while making use of existing Aero H/H+ Satcom components already found on a large number of airline and corporate jet aircraft.

CMC Electronics designs and produces leading technology electronics products for the aviation and global positioning markets. CMC's focus is on delivering innovative cockpit systems integration and avionics solutions to its customers worldwide. Its principal locations are in Montreal, Quebec; Ottawa, Ontario; and Chicago, Illinois. CMC is a private company controlled by an investor group led by ONCAP L.P. ONCAP is a CDN $400 million investment fund established by Onex Corporation and a number of leading Canadian financial institutions. Onex is a diversified company with annual consolidated revenues of approximately CDN $16 billion and consolidated assets of approximately CDN $14 billion. Onex is one of Canada's largest companies with global operations in the service, manufacturing and technology industries.
