CMC Electronics Completes Contract for Deliveries of Overhead HUDs and Mission Computers for AgustaWestland Super Lynx 300

(Farnborough International Airshow - July 17, 2006) CMC Electronics has completed the contract for the delivery of HeliHawk Overhead Head-Up Displays (HUD) and Mission Computers to AgustaWestland for the Super Lynx 300.

The pilots flying the HUD-equipped Super Lynx 300 will benefit from navigation and weapons delivery display capabilities which were previously not available. In the past, rotary wing pilots have not been able to utilize the benefits provided by a HUD due to the technological challenges of the visibility requirements and lack of space in helicopter cockpits.

"Our long history of supplying compact and lightweight displays gives us a clear advantage in offering HUDs to the helicopter marketplace," said Jean-Michel Comtois, Vice President, Military Aviation, CMC Electronics Inc. He explained, "The introduction of our FV-4000 Mission Computer with the HeliHawk HUD in the Super Lynx 300 provides a significant improvement in situational awareness in normal, partial or fully obscured visibility conditions, along with precision aiming accuracy for fixed boresight weapons. It allows the pilot's attention to remain focused on the outside world, while providing aircraft flight and performance information through all phases of flight."

The CMC Electronics' HeliHawk HUD, combined with Operational Flight Programs and the open-architecture Mission Computer, is a complete navigation and weapons delivery system. The HeliHawk provides a powerful, cost-effective solution for rotary wing aircraft that perform a broad range of missions.

"The HeliHawk's high performance and low cost make it the best value solution for new military helicopters or for upgrades to existing helicopters," added Jean-Michel Comtois. "The HeliHawk HUD is based on our popular SparrowHawk HUD for fixed wing aircraft currently used in the U.S. Navy F-14B, the Boeing/Aero L-159, and the Pilatus PC-7, PC-9, and PC-21, Raytheon T-6B and KAI KT-1C. A derivative of the SparrowHawk was chosen for the Lockheed Martin Joint Strike Fighter Concept Demonstration Aircraft. "
