CMC Electronics Integrated Electronic Flight Bag and Enhanced Vision System Sensor for Pilatus PC-12

(National Business Aviation Association - October 16, 2006) FAA certification is expected imminently of both the CMC Electronics PilotView® Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) and the CMC Electronics SureSight® M-Series™ Enhanced Vision System (EVS) sensor which were selected as factory options by Pilatus Business Aircraft Ltd. on the PC-12 aircraft. Pilatus is offering the CMC Electronics PilotView EFB as well as the SureSight M-Series EVS sensor as retrofit kits to their dealer network.

The PilotView EFB will function as a stand-alone system and as a display for the M-Series EVS sensor. Mike Haenggi, Marketing Manager, Pilatus Business Aircraft Ltd., said: "We are very impressed with the PilotView EFB and its avionics-grade hardware. Our customers should find the PilotView EFB and the M-Series EVS sensor to be a very effective aid in improving situational awareness."

Designed specifically for airlines and the discerning business aircraft owner, the PilotView EFB bridges the gap between low-end off-the-shelf PC tablets and high-end Class 3 EFBs, by offering an avionics-grade hardware package and certification to DO-160D. While not certified for navigation, the EVS may be used in all phases of flight. The PilotView EFB consists of a lightweight, compact and self-contained electronic display and processing unit, and a companion power and expansion module unit. In addition to software definable "FMS-style" line-select keys that surround the high-quality, sunlight readable display, the PilotView EFB offers a "film-on-glass" touch-sensitive screen providing pilots with a choice when accessing or navigating through EFB software applications such as electronic charts, checklists, e-documents, performance calculations, real-time weather, surveillance video and moving maps.

CMC's ultra compact, low-cost M-Series EVS sensor improves situational awareness by allowing pilots to see better at night and in low-visibility situations for commercial, business/corporate and paramilitary operations. The M-Series sensor weighs 2.2 lb and measures 2.4 inches by 2.5 inches by 6 inches in length. A notable feature is the M-Series' single Line Replacable Unit that can be easily installed in the tail fin or nose of an aircraft. The EVS sensor for the Pilatus PC-12 is installed in the nose of the aircraft, thus providing an excellent angle of view and easy access for cleaning and maintenance.
