PilotView ApplicationCMC offers a suite of industry leading applications to satisfy the operational requirements for a wide range of business jet and air-transport aircraft types.

The PilotView® EFB application environment is supported by a CMC-controlled Windows XP Operating System and BIOS and delivered with CMC's Main Menu software and Utility.

Adapting to Operator's requirements, the Main Menu software provides a configurable environment for rapid and consistent access to applications during Flight Preparation, In-Flight and after the flight is complete.

The Main Menu software provides the following key benefits:
  • Automatic launch at power on. Operates as a shell from the Windows XP environment simplifying user navigation from application to application.
  • Human Machine Interface designed specifically to satisfy cockpit operations with the use of large buttons, suitable colour-coding, and reduced steps to get to each application rapidly at any time.
  • Applications operate in their native Windows environment without any requirement for change or the need for software integration on the platform (*).
  • Configuration tools allow for changes to the Main Menu configurations while ensuring the overall integrity of the EFB system.
A password protected access to native functions of the Windows XP environment is possible at all times, should this be required.

(*)Some application enhancements may be required to fully leverage the Bezel and Line-Select key capabilities provided with the PilotView® EFB.

Flight Preparation

During Flight Preparation, access to charts and to electronic checklists results in time efficiency for the pilot. Last-minute calculations of aircraft flight conditions, including weight and balance, can save fuel and enable flight parameters to reflect more recent changes to airport configuration.

Electronic Charting - Current charts at your fingertips

Electronic Charts are available from third-party suppliers such as Jeppesen®, Lido (Lufthansa Systems) and EAG (European Aeronautical Group). The PilotView® EFB provides full graphics and processing support for these industry-leading charting applications. Efficient access to key chart data is facilitated by the touch screen including:
  • Full Approach Charts - On a single page.
  • Departure Procedures (SIDs).
  • Airport Charts.
  • Arrival Procedures (STARs).
  • Airspace Charts.
Charts are available at all times during flight. Day/night operation is possible(*) using low dimming capabilities of the PilotView® EFB. Cyclic data updates can be performed easily via CD/DVD ROM or via EFB content manager.

(*) night mode visualization capabilities may vary depending on chart package.

Performance Applications
PilotView Application

CMC is working with industry leading specialists to deliver flight performance calculation applications closely aligned with each customer's aircraft type.

Performance applications are tailored to aircraft characteristics and can include weight and balance, take-off and landing calculations with the support of accurate airport area obstacle databases, latest airport notams and weather information.

Electronic Checklists
PilotView Application

Electronic Checklists (ECL) may include customizable normal, abnormal and emergency checklists. The ECL format may be based directly on the style of the paper/PDF source or emulate a multi-functional display (MFD) checklist style.

Custom ECL content is developed with web-based editing tools via a Draft/Review/Acceptance cycle and based on approved source documents as supplied by the Operator or OEM.

Once approved, the content the ECL on the PilotView can be automatically updated, either Online or via USB, via the Electronic Content Manager (ECM) package.

In-Flight

During the flight, access to aircraft documents, flight manuals or other reference documents can save precious time for pilots under specific conditions.
The convenience of moving maps and on-line weather provides additional situational awareness and supports critical flight planning decisions such as bad weather avoidance.

En-Route Moving Maps

When properly configured and with the use of the optional Arinc 429 communication option, the PilotView® EFB provides the aircraft operator with the convenience of GPS centered moving maps for improved situational awareness (without depiction of own-ship).

Electronic Documentation
PilotView Application
CMC is working with industry leading companies to achieve efficiencies in the creation, publishing, distribution and update costs associated to aircraft manuals.

CMC's entry level solution for 'eDOCs' is a straightforward user-managed indexing and presentation tools for documents of all types. The eDOC application is optimized for PDF or Custom XML and SGML documentation formats and integrate a cross-search tool capability.

Operators can manage independently fleet documentation and aircraft-specific libraries and ensure subscription to individual aircraft/EFBs via web-based tools.

'Last Mile' delivery to the EFB is supported by CMC's EFB Content Manager (ECM) which provides for full or incremental update via a secure process which can be performed via USB memory stick or as the EFB is connected to an Ethernet network.

Weather Display
PilotView Application

The PilotView® high-quality display delivers excellent visualization of real-time weather data and content which can include METAR and TAF RADAR, SCIT, and lightning strike information.

Airways, VOR, Airport data referential is also provided as part of the associated moving map capabilities.

Following Application Verification, the weather solution selected by the operator is fully integrated with CMC's EFB System.

Video Display
PilotView Application

With its integrated EMU video option or via an Ethernet video file server, the PilotView® EFB provides a high-quality video visualization capability and operates with various types of optional video surveillance and video distribution systems on-board the aircraft.

Direct video input can be in NTSC, PAL or RS170 formats providing full video streaming on screen with pause and contrast/brightness control at hand and on-touch video in/out action from the bezel keys.

In addition, CMC's SureSight® Enhanced Vision System (EVS) can utilize the PilotView® EDU as a head-down display for the images generated by the EVS sensor. Additional information regarding CMC's SureSight® EVS is available upon request.

Maintenance and Technical Log Applications

At the end of each flight, important data can be entered by the pilot, signed off and transmitted to ground operations conveniently.

CMC is working with industry leading specialists to deliver Maintenance and Technical Log Applications customized to meet the requirements of each customer's aircraft type.
